Well, to a certain extent I am. I enjoyed the whole process of buying a house here in the United States immensely. Although, in our case it was a drawn - out process and lasted well over a couple of years. We would be active house-seekers for a while and be on hiatus for extended periods of time and then restart the process all over again and this continued for a while before our search translated into home ownership (now that I think about it, I wonder if I unintentionally delayed the process since I was enjoying it so much!). Anyway, that's not the only reason I believe I am hooked on houses. Someday, I would like to build my dream home in India incorporating some of the traditional Indian architectural elements such as a courtyard, the verandah, stained glass windows and more. I am immediately drawn to homes with a good elevation and wish I could knock on the door and ask for a tour. I love learning about different styles of homes here in the US like tudor, mediteranean, craftsman, bungalow, ranch, victorian and everything else. I have convinced Uj to take a detour from our weekend errands just to go look at an open house in the neighborhood (several times!) I still occasionally browse the local realty website just to see what's out there. If I had to choose between tickets to the Oprah Winfrey show or a tour of her mansion in Montecito - you know the answer, don't you? Now, if it was her favorite things show, then maybe.....
So, I love good houses. I love making them into good homes just as much or even more!
By now it looks like I am more than hooked on houses, doesn't it ?
Anyway, why all this talk of homes and houses, you ask? Well, two of our friends are in the market for houses and obviously this has me all excited. I even had the opportunity to tag along on their house hunting trips (no, I didn't invite myself ) and for somebody like me there could be no better way to spend a sunny weekend afternoon. Despite my house fetish, I do sincerely hope that my friends find good homes and soon.
and title inspiration for this post comes from this blog. Of course, I must've googled "hooked on houses " sometime back to see if there is a cure and voila - stumbled on to her wonderful blog!
