Yes, I live in Texas and no, this is not the first time we are having snow.In fact, given last year's record snowfall we sort of expected a day or two of (heavy) snowfall this winter as well. Although our snow stories pale in comparison to stories from the East Coast or even the Midwest, we still have a story nonetheless. It started off Monday night with freezing rain, ice, sleet, thunderstorm, snow flurries, frost dust - just about everything but sunshine. While the action stopped sometime Tuesday, the sun refuses to come out and the snowy, icy mess that's everywhere refuses to melt - result slick roads, icy conditions , closed schools - in short, a city shut down, even paralyzed! And all this as the Big D is getting ready to host Super Bowl this Sunday!
I know, I know - this is just routine winter elsewhere but not here. Where I live, temperatures below 30 make headline news and anything beyond that is almost a weather related emergency! So, this is day 4 and last night it snowed yet again and as I look out from my snow cave, all I can see is a vast stretch of winter wonderland with nary a track mark on the roads - no one and I mean not one soul has ventured out in the last 3-4 days. Now, what started as a day or two of cozy stay- at- home event is quickly turning into a bad case of cabin fever. Li'l A is getting restless too. We've read books, played board games, watched movies, tried a new recipe or two, cleaned the house, rehearsed for the dance performance (more on that later), did some painting and now I am at my wit's end! So, got any snow day ideas?
...and say hello to frosty before you leave!
