From our travel albums - 2

Happy Saturday folks!
Well, my plans for a weekend getaway fell apart. You can plan all you want and then life throws a curve ball. Well, in this case a fast ball! I had totally forgotten about the cricket World Cup which kicked off today and in the orchid-dom, it is complete blasphemy to suggest anything else when a cricket match is on and if it is the WORLD CUP, fuh get it! So, I am still home..

But no worries, I am back with a new post, a new picture. This time, I am taking you somewhere local. Well, 40 miles would still be local in Texas!

It's nice and bright outside and I thought a trip (even if it is virtual) to the local gardens would be fun. DFW has two major botanical gardens - the Dallas Arboretum and the Fortworth Botanical Gardens. And if you ever plan a trip to this part of the country, I would recommend both. The one in Fortworth has several mini- gardens and my favorite of course is the Japanese garden. And if you can plan a trip in the fall (when the maple trees turn a gorgeous red and when they celebrate the Japanese festival) then you will be in for an absolute treat. Of course, you can read up more on the Dallas gardens here and here.

So, take a look - here's a picture of the byoooooootiful koi pond and also one from karesansui (the Japanese rock garden)

Enjoy, stay inspired and I will see you back on the other side of the weekend!
