January January!!
Alrighty then, Bush gave his last State of the Union address last night and his legacy may very well be in murky waters what with inflation at an all time high, the dollar losing value, sub prime woes pushing lenders out of business, 140,000 American troops still stationed in Iraq, the U.S economy edging towards recession, 2 million homeowners all set to foreclose….hmmm doesn’t really look like much of a start to the New Year after all, but hey that’s not what I am here to talk about, am I?
So, here’s the low down on a really manic January! Like I mentioned in the previous post- it’s been a one busy month for us. But before that- The Vacation! I know I promised to report on that.
We flew to Knoxville on the 30th and from there drove up to the Great Smoky Mountains and stayed at a cabin in the mountains with two other families for 4 nights and 5 days. It was essentially a caucus of old friends that were getting together after 5 long years. Many things had changed, 2 new kids that needed introductions and an endless amount of catching up and an even endless recap of the nostalgic past. Needless to say, the boys, big and little, had a lot of fun and so did us- the ladies. New Year’s Eve was a blast! We partied on the streets of downtown Gatlinburg alongside a crowd of 40,000 (that’s right!) other vacationers who were all there for the same thing- the Times Square style ball drop! Amidst all the partying which continued through the night at the cabin we managed to bid adieu to 2007. The rest of our vacation itinerary included all things that would be expected of a typical mountain vacation – the ride to Ober Gatlinburg ski resort in the aerial tramway, the ride up the scenic skylift and stopping at endless number of vista points to take in the beauty of the wintery mountain-scape are just a few highlights. We came back home refreshed and rejuvenated!
And here are a few images to support the claim!
Now getting back to January itself, first the house and then Li'l A's run with the stomach bug, both of which have left us a little (??) exhausted. I hope I get a break in February since March promises to be equally crazy with packing and the moving. Uj has taken to photography in a big way and if I not blogging, just know that I am probably posing as a subject for his never-ending assignments! And here's this weeks assignment.

Now, who would've thought ???
...that the New Yr would bring about so many changes. I know it is barely 20 days and we (at the Orchid household) are seeing so much action already!! No seriously, would you believe me if I told you that I have not had time to pull my Christmas tree down?? So, what's new?? How about a new address for starters?? and yes, that's what's kept me away from the blog largely. The move is scheduled to happen mid to late march and believe me I don't even want to think about packing just yet!! And today, just when I thought the dust had settled on the whole house thing, Li'l A is down with what appears to be a rather merciless variety of the stomach flu. The poor kid has been puking his guts out and it breaks my heart to see him suffer. I know, I promised to write about the vacation and I will as soon as I can get to it.
Thanks for checking on me and will stop by yours soon.
